Following news that Gwyneth Paltrow is the uninspiring choice to play Marlene Dietrich in a forthcoming biopic, we have higher hopes for the Don Cheadle-directed film about the late, great Miles Davis .
Davis's nephew confirmed this week that Cheadle will also play the jazz pioneer, while Herbie Hancock is in talks to provide the score (I'm not sure why they don't just use Davis's music, but never mind).
Let's hope we don't have to wait as long for this project as for the Nina Simone story, in the offing

For actors like Nicoye Banks , landing parts in big screen films is always a blessing.
But to have two different, high profile films out in the same time period -- for different audiences-- is amazing.

That's right, Alice in Wonderland took off like a whirlwind and flew all the way to Oz. It's $116 million opening weekend made it the biggest March opening ever, not to mention the biggest opening outside the main summer months of May, June, and July. The Tim Burton-helmed film is also the biggest opening of his career.
The 3D film seemed to strike a chord with audiences as they seemed more than willing to charge out to theaters en masse for the first time in 2010.

MILES DAVIS' nephew has confirmed reports DON CHEADLE will play the jazz legend in a new biopic.
Vince Wilburn, Jr. reveals Cheadle will also direct the film and Herbie Hancock will score the project.
Davis' relative is working with the Kind of Blue star's son Erin to bring the project to the big screen after a bust-up with a former screenwriter.
